World IP Day – Lunchtime talk: Open Source Software and Copyright by Peter Koornhof – 25 April 2016

World IP Day – Lunchtime talk: Open Source Software and Copyright by Peter Koornhof – 25 April 2016

Every year in April, the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) celebrates World Intellectual Property (IP) Day to encourage learning about the role that intellectual property rights (patents, trademarks, industrial designs, copyright) play in supporting innovation and creativity. The theme for this year is exploring the future of culture in the digital age: how we create it, how we access it, how we finance it. We will discuss how a flexible intellectual property system helps ensure that artists and creative industries are properly paid for their work, so they can keep creating. UWC Technology Transfer Office in partnership with the UWC Faculty of Law  is hosting a World IP Day lunchtime talk on April 25, 2016 to discuss open source software and copyright.
